BORN AGAIN?     by Pastor Paul Locke

When Jesus said, “You must be Born Again” (Jhn 3:3) he was not talking about something automatic otherwise the teaching simply would be to believe.  Born Again is a vital condition that seems to be generally misunderstood in the Church.  The testimony of Richard Smith a Catholic confirms what I say.  After I explained and ministered the baptism of the Holy Spirit to Richard then he had a life changing experience.  He tells that he loved the Lord for such a long time and no one ever told him that he had to ask for the Holy Spirit. (Mtt 7:7)  The same thing happened to the disciples at Ephesus when Apostle Paul went to them and asked, “Did you receive the Holy Spirit when you believed? (Acts 19:2)  In Acts 8 we see the Samaritans who believed and were baptised (water) had not received the Holy Spirit.  They received the baptism of the Holy Spirit by laying of hands after prayer.

The difference between John’s baptism and Jesus’ baptism comes from the mouth of the Prophet John the Baptist, “I baptize with water for repentance…He (Jesus) will baptise you with the Holy Spirit and with fire.”  Jesus said about the being baptized in water by John, “It is proper for us to do this to fulfil all righteousness.” (Mtt 3:11, 15)  Jesus gives us a lead on how to be baptized in the Holy Spirit in Luke 3:21,22; where He went to be baptised in water, so He was made righteous even though he did not need it, then He prayed,  I ask, “Was He asking for the Holy Spirit?”  I think so because then the Holy Sprit came upon Him.  To confirm this thought Apostle Peter said it on the day of Pentecost, “Repent and be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ.”  This means two separate things to do; the first part ‘repent’ is John’s baptism, the second part is Jesus’ baptism.

Spirit of Promise, the seal, a deposit is what the modern Church rely on when they boldly say, “I already have it.”  If they were to read further down the Thanksgiving Prayer in Ephesians 1, they would discover that Apostle Paul prays for them to receive something they do not have, the baptism of the Holy Spirit.  He talks about the Gifts of the Holy Spirit when he refers to wisdom, knowledge, and the great resurrection power.  The spirit behind the ‘I already have it people’ is pride.  The sad thing about this is the lack of proper teaching on such an important subject.  Baptism of the Holy Spirit is intrinsic to salvation.   At this present time there are about nine out of every ten people who say they are Christians are not yet qualified to enter or see the Kingdom of God.

Power comes when we are clothed from on high (Lk 24:49) with the Holy Spirit, the full armour of God. (Eph 6:11)  Jesus proclaimed that “the Spirit of the Lord is on me because He has anointed me…”   The world ignores and does not see the daily miracles through the Ambassadors for Christ who go about doing the work set before them by the Lord Jesus.  People who work around me can see and do mighty miracles that seem too far fetched for some to believe.  The proof you need to confirm you are baptized in the Holy Spirit is your excitement and passion to serve.  You will know the Lord personally and converse with Him knowing that he leads us by speaking into our hearts.  Only through time do we walk in this blessing and hear this small voice within.  I am always amazed to see what God is doing with and through me.  I love Jesus.  Return to Evangelism
