IMPARTATION     by Pastor Paul Locke

The reason most of the Christians in the world today are not baptised in the Holy Spirit is because the principles are not taught.  When the Holy Spirit came upon the one hundred and twenty disciples of Jesus in the upper room in Jerusalem the concept of Divine impartation was established.  Jesus is the Baptiser and gives the miracle from on high,(Jhn 3:3) however the principle of being used as the ‘hands and feet of Jesus’ seems to be overlooked.  Being empowered and sent into the world by Jesus with the ‘Great Commission’ (Mtt 28:19) implies that we baptise in His name and He will honour it with a miracle when we lay hands.

Transfer of spirits is established in the Old Testament (Lev 16:21) passing sins through laying hands onto a ‘Scapegoat’.  Jesus said, “But if I drive out demons by the Spirit of God, then the Kingdom of God has come among you.” (Mtt 12:28)  What Jesus is saying is that sin and demons are related.  Sickness and sin are related as Jesus said, “Which is easier to say, ‘your sins are forgiven or take up your bed and walk.’  The Holy Spirit is imparted also by the laying of hands as written in Acts 8:18, “When Simon saw that the Spirit was given at the laying on of the Apostles’ hands he offered them money.”  Later in Acts 19 it is revealed that Paul laid hands on the disciples at Ephesus and the Holy Spirit came upon them.

The positive aspect of impartation is that it is a shortcut for the Baptism of the Holy Spirit.  Most people who have sovereign impartation usually have to wait a long time and really press into God.  My personal experience was that I lived and breathed the Lord day and night for three weeks until I received sovereignly.  The late Pastor Gordon Gibbs told me that he was in ministry for eleven years before he received a sovereign baptism of the Holy Spirit.  What is overlooked is that the Holy Spirit will not come upon a dirty vessel, but will when we are clean in a moment in time of repentance. (1Jn 1:9)

Fear of the unknown deters people from the ministry of impartation by laying of hands.  Without the baptism of the Holy Spirit believers can be re infested by demons after repentance. (Mtt 12:43-45)  This is why Jesus told the Laodicean church they were luke warm and needed to be earnest and repent.  For Jesus to give us white clothes to wear; is to be clothed from on high, ‘the baptism of the Holy Spirit.  When you are truly born again then the devil can not enter or rob your house. (Mtt 12:29)  To lay hands is impartation a good thing.

When the Holy Spirit is imparted then He the Spirit of Jesus says, “Never will I leave you.” (Heb 13:5)  On the other hand if your minister is not baptised in the Holy Spirit then you cannot receive from him.  Do not despair because if you ask, then God will make a divine appointment for you to meet someone to impart the Holy Spirit to you.  The person appointed by God is a good and faithful servant. (Mtt 25:21)  The Holy Spirit is doubled like the ‘Talents’ when imparted and received.  A truly baptised in the Holy Spirit believer will accept this as truth to encourage others to lay hands on them for more of God.
