MIRACLES 2   by Pastor Paul Locke

Miracles are supernatural events that defy explanation by the scientific mind.  Casting out demons by the finger of God is a miracle like instant healing, provision, or unnatural events.  Jesus explained that when He cast out demons, “the Kingdom of God has come upon you.” (Mtt 12:28)   The feeding of the five thousand with five loaves and two fishes (Mtt 14:13-21) is a miracle that Jesus performed in the same power of God that He used to change water into wine.  Another miracle was when Jesus spoke to the wind and the waves saying, “Quiet, be still.” And the wind and the waves obeyed. (Mk 4:39)

The Bible records many miracles that Jesus performed and also miracles of the Old Testament and the New Testament.  Jesus said the miracle was for “God’s glory so that God’s Son may be glorified through it.” (Jhn 11:4)  Miracles also show the world that, “the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sin.” (Mtt 9:6)  Jesus said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me, so therefore, go…” (Mtt 28:18)  Jesus made believers Ambassadors to exert authority on His behalf.  Jesus sent out the twelve and then the seventy two as Ambassadors who were given the task to represent Him but the twelve failed to grasp the role of faith in performance of the tasks.

Jesus made it clear about faith, “If you have faith as small as a mustard seed you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there’ and it will move.  Nothing will be impossible for you.” (Mtt 17:20)  Enter a new dimension of faith with positive confessions because Ministering Angels and also Satan’s demons watch to respond to our utterances.  The Bible tells us that our tongues have power over life and death, an instrument of blessing or cursing.  To a Saint the tongue is the ‘Sword of the Spirit’ (Eph 6:17) with Words to defeat the enemy.  Jesus said, “I tell you the truth, whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.” (Mtt 18:18)

Wielding authority to work miracles occurs in the name of Jesus.  Jesus petitions with the church to His Father in heaven as written, “For when two or three come together in my name, there I am with them.”  (Mtt 18:20)  Believers work in miracles, signs and wonders that follow the preaching of the Gospel. (Mk 16:17)  The special Gifts of the Spirit are for individual Saints, those believers who are baptized in the Holy Spirit. (1Cor 12:10)  Miraculous gifts operate through individuals and many are recorded in the book of Acts (of the Holy Spirit).  Those who say that miracles ended with the Apostles surely ignore that God is the same yesterday, today, and forever.  They are now rebuked for little faith by me and I say be Born Again and you will receive the gift of working with God’s faith through your mustard seed size faith.
