FIGHTING GOD by Pastor Paul Locke for loxland.com 14/08/2015
Persecution of God’s Servants by authorities is described in the letter to the Ephesians as Spiritual Warfare. (Eph 6:12) Gamaliel the Jewish Pharisee a noted wise person advised the Sanhedrin to leave the Disciples of Jesus alone to preach in the streets; or they would find themselves ‘fighting God’. (Acts 5:39) He referred to self-serving leaders Judas and Theudas as temporary cult leaders whose followers scattered when the leader died.
Divine influence caused the scattering of the Church (Acts 8:1-4) and they are called the ‘Diaspora’. Through them the knowledge of the Gospel went out to the world. The sting of persecution only served to harden the resolve of Believers to go and preach the Gospel according to the ‘Great Commission’ that Jesus gave them. (Mtt 28:18-19) Even Rome feeding Christians to the Lions could not win the fight, for God made the Roman Empire, the Holy Roman Empire through Emperor Constantine.
Creation Power of God is expressed this way, “In God, we live and move and have our being.” (Acts 17:28) The Bible records what Folly is; and certainly to resist the will of God, or fighting God is Folly. Resisting the knowledge of God is expressed as being ‘dumb brute beasts’ and they can be made to speak in the service of God. (Num 22:28) All creation groans waiting for the coming of the King of Kings, and Lord of Lords.
The Devil fights God in a vain attempt to lift himself above the Throne of God, (Isa 14:14) and this delusion is the reason Lucifer was thrown down from heaven. In God’s plan of Salvation he created an adversary in the Devil as a disciplinary tool for mankind. The Devil is fighting God for souls perceiving that having an army of sinners will enable him to win the war that he is waging in the heavenlies. He has ignored what is written about his fall. (Rev 20:10)
Surrender to God is wise for it is repentance, turning from your way to God’s way. God’s plan of redemption is through the sacrifice of Jesus and His Blood. (Rom 3:25) The Devil killed Jesus an innocent man and the sin of the Devil was the cause for his loss of power over those who receive salvation by faith in the work of the Cross. The act of repentance brings inner deliverance of demons where we can approach God in righteousness. God is faithful to forgive. (1Jhn 1:9)
