HAUNTING 1 by Pastor Paul Locke 28/07/2016
Series of teaching about the spirit realm will begin today in an effort to equip the saints with knowledge on how to exert the incredible power they are given when baptised in the Holy Spirit. (1Cor 12:10) I have studied this subject over the years and it seems that a comprehensive source of information is not available to believers except the revelation that comes by the Holy Spirit. (1Cor 1:9-11) Power gifted to believers and the Church is central to this series of teaching.
Ghost story movie is a useful teaching tool but lacks Biblical explanation on some aspects that mislead viewers. The plight of the murderer is accurate (Rev 22:15) but the hero ceases to be able to exert influence on earth. Those who die in Christ go immediately into His presence and those who are not His sheep go to hell where they wait for the White Throne judgment day when the Books are opened to see if their name is written in the Lamb’s Book of Life. (Rev 21:27)
Apparition of ghosts is a reality but the identity or purpose of the appearance is central to this teaching. A visible appearance is called a Spectre or Apparition and an actual physical presence is a physical flesh body being used by a spirit. An apparition of the dead Samuel the Prophet is an example (1Sam 28:13) of necromancy that is forbidden by God. Entertaining people can be entertaining Angels and we are warned to be mindful of this. (Heb 13:2)
Evil Spirits are Demons that serve the Devil and Angels are ministering spirits to the heirs of salvation. (Heb 1:14) This is confirmed by the Devil when he tested Jesus after the wilderness experience saying, “He will command angels to lift you up so as you do not strike your foot against a stone.” The application of exertion of power on earth is through the name of Jesus a name that is above every other name. (Php 2:9)
Power of Devil comes by deception. (Jhn 8:44) His goal is to neutralise the power given to believers through the Blood of Jesus Christ by putting power negating words into their mouths. Never confess negatively for this empowers the devil, but positive confession about God empowers us. Praising God drives the devil into a frenzy and he goes about spying on us through his demonic network. All heaven is watching us and rejoice when a sinner comes to repentance. (Lk 15:10)
