OLD AND NEW by Pastor Paul Locke for loxland.com 29/06/2017

History of the world was orally transferred until after the introduction of writing.  The Bible Old Testament is a written record of the creation narratives that establishes a timeline using the number of years the Patriarchs lived. (Gen 5)  The scattering of people on earth is recorded from the Table of Nations at the time of the Tower of Babel after the flood. (Gen 10)  We can usually establish our ancestry based on the place we were born and DNA proves mankind is a distinct race.

Patriarchs are important in establishing the relationship between God and man. Everything that was written in the past was written to teach us (Rom 15:4) so whether we live or die, we belong to the Lord for Christ is the Lord of both the dead and the living. (Rom 14:8-9)  Christ became a servant of Jews on behalf of God’s truth to confirm the promises so gentiles may glorify God for his mercy. (Rom 15:8-9)

Fullness of Godhead was revealed to the world after the death and resurrection of Jesus the Son and the coming of the Holy Spirit making up the Triune God of the Lord God the Father, Jesus the Son, and the Ghost of Jesus, called the Holy Spirit. (Ex 20:2)  At the baptism of Jesus in the Jordan River, Lord God the Father spoke from heaven, the Holy Spirit descended upon Jesus and it was at this time that the three persons of God is revealed clearly as one god in three persons. (Lk 3:22)

New Testament begins at the end of the Old Testament in the Bible.  The New Testament is the story of Jesus born of the Virgin Mary and sired by the Holy Spirit making him the Son of God. (Lk 1:35)  The plan of God was to present a sinless person as the Lamb of God as a means of dealing with forgiveness of sin. (Jhn 1:29)  God the Father is the Creator as well as being the Judge of the Universe who ruled against Satan for killing an innocent man, Jesus.  Power of restoration is in his Blood.

Enemies of God are sinners and are far from God in their hearts.  The truth is ‘everything that does not come from faith is sin.’ (Rom 14:23)  Faithless people are still under the Law of the Old Covenant and it is impossible to keep the Law.  God made an easy way to enter into his rest and that is through the Blood of Jesus for it is written, ‘For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son, and whomsoever believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.’ (Jhn 3:16)
