SEVENTY TIMES SEVEN by Pastor Paul Locke for loxland.com 26/05/2016 and YouTube
Hebrews 10 infers a loss of salvation by the writer Apollos or Barnabas and wrongly interpreted by some to apply to Born Again Christians. This book was written to encourage Jewish Christians not to abandon their faith nor revert back to Judaism. Going back under the Law really is loss of faith in Jesus Christ and giving away the gift of Grace. (Heb 4:14-16) Elementary Christian teaching is ignored by some who need to revert to re-laying their foundations. (Heb 6:1-2)
Loss of Grace This contradicts the very words of Jesus who tells the disciples that forgiveness comes not once but seventy times seven an infinite number in Jewish mindset. (Mtt 18:22) He confirms this by saying, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.” Grace is undeserved favour and applies most to baby Christians who are learning to drop worldly ways e.g. alcoholics, drug addicts, gamblers who are moving towards the goal of perfection of saints. (Php 3:14)
Slippery Slope is my description of a downhill slide that sinners go on when they know the God of Creation and fail to glorify Him. (Rom 1:20) Because they did not value nor retain the knowledge of God, he gave them over to a depraved mind. (Rom 1:28) God would have it that none perish, but all come to repentance, however like the Israelites in the wilderness nearly all suffered from lack of faith that did not please God. Have faith in God.
Peter on the day of Pentecost revealed to the crowd what they must do to be saved, “Repent and be baptised into the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins...” (Acts 2:38) Repentance comes first then asking to receive the baptism of the Holy Spirit; sovereignly or by the laying of Apostles hands. (Acts 8:18) The Late Pastor Gordon Gibbs waited twelve years in ministry for sovereign impartation when the Acts 8 way is preferred by God, an instant impartation.
Modern Apostles are sent ones, and every Born Again believer is an Apostle sent by Jesus into the world to preach the Gospel. The parable of the Lost Sheep values the lost one sheep more valuable than the ninety nine and all heaven rejoices when the lost sheep is found. (Lk 15:7) This suggests that churchyness is a man thing while evangelism is more of God. Put away your toys and grow up for we are to progress in God. (1Cor 13:10-11)
