SPIRITS OF GOD by Pastor Paul Locke for loxland.com 11/05/2017

Angels “Are not all angels ministering spirits sent to serve those who will inherit salvation?” (Heb 1:14)  In the same way are not demons evil spirits sent to serve Satan.  Discerning spirits is a gift from God to allow us to avoid deception by evil spirits. (1Cor 12:10)  God defines spirits by the role they perform and this information is important, otherwise they would not appear as specific spirits in Scripture.

Demons are fallen angels who exert power on earth through flesh bodies and accounts for evil forces in mankind. (Isa 14:12)  Christians with power war against these evil spirits with words and not flesh. (Eph 6:12)  All sickness is from demonic affliction and naming the sickness is a focus on the spirit to pronounce power over it.  Imagine your target spirit is hiding among thousands of other spirits and needs to be singled out for action by you.

Healing comes when evil spirits are commanded to leave, “You deaf and dumb spirit I command you to come out of him and never enter him again.” (Mk 9:25)  Jesus confronted the Gadarene demoniac by saying “Spirit name yourself.”  The name given was “Legion” many spirits who left when Jesus commanded. (Mk 5:9-13)  Jesus came to give life and life more abundantly so, giving freedom for the captives was a specific calling by God to Jesus after he received power of the Holy Spirit.

Guardian Angels are those who form a hedge around those who are righteous. The hedge is protection from Satan who cannot attack those who are hedged. (Job 1:10)   Sin breaks the hedge and this is the reason Apostle Paul commends, “If you do sin be quick to repent.”   This advice lines up with words “If you break the hedge the serpent will bite you.”   Daily repentance helps remove sin for the start of a new day and this is why the Lord’s Prayer is a prayer of daily repentance. (Mtt 6:11-12)

Spirit and truth means that one has a miracle from on high, Born Again by the Spirit of God. (Jhn 4:24)  Knowing who you worship is revealed by the Spirit of Truth and also the Spirit of Knowledge a blessed assurance. (Jhn 14:17)  This Spirit is not the Spirit of Fear, but the Spirit of Love, Spirit of Power, Spirit of Sanity.  John the Baptist ministered the Holy Spirit to Jesus when he touched him in baptism within water of the Jordan River.
